General Introduction

Postgraduate Office (PGO) established in 1985 by decision of the President of Ho Chi Minh City Nong Lam University (NLU); whose mission is training management and developed orient of postgraduate education.

Get training mission doctoral degree in 1985 by Decision No.1759/QLKH the Ministry of Education and Training signed on 12.31.1985; NLU started enrollment since 1985, including 8 branches: Agricultural chemicals, Soil, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Animal Husbandry Agriculture, Pathophysiology and treatment of livestock, agricultural Mechanization and Silviculture. Now, NLU is recruiting students and doctoral level training for 11 majors. As of 12/2015, has trained 70 PhD.

Ministry of Education and Training has assigned Nong Lam University the training duty by decision of 2822/QD - SDH signed on 11.04.1991. NLU began enrollment and training in 1993. Up to 12/2015 the University has trained 1890 masters of Science in Agronomy. Currently there are 1667 students studying in 15 majors: Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Environment engineering, Chemical engineering, Food technology, Wood technology, Animal science, Crop science, Plant protection, Agricultural economics, Silviculture, Aquaculture, Veterinary Medicine, Natural Resources & Environmental Management, Land Administration. In recent years, the graduate programs and curriculum has been improving gradually to meet the needs of socio-economic development of Vietnam and the general trend of development in the multidisciplinary area.

Every year approximately 200 students graduate with Master's degrees. There are mainly 80% students from the schools,  research institutes and state management organizations while the remaining are private agriculture and forestry businesses or those who want to enhance their professional knowledge. The number of students (HV) of each major varies greatly, from 5-20 students /major, an average of 10 HV.

Eligible for master’s programs

The candidates have an engineer or bachelor degree in accordance with the major they are going to study  and 2 years experience of work.

The candidates who are just graduating from university or equivalence (good and excellent) are immediately able to enroll without work experience.

The candidates with their bachelor’s degree different from the major they are going to study and a specific case, they have to take some additional specialized courses of their Master’s programs (Specifically, please read the Regulation of postgraduate enrollment on our website).

Eligible for Doctor’s programs:

The candidates with engineer and bachelor degrees the same as the major they are going to study, researches and two published articles on science in the scientific journals at the state level, or the division level.

The candidates with master’s degrees the same as the major they are going to study, researches and one published articles on science in the scientific journals at the state level, or the division level.
